Palo Alto Networks Cloud NGFW - Azure Native Service
Just a quick post about a preview feature that caught my eye and was compelled to write a post about it ASAP!
It has just been announced that Palo Alto Networks in conjunction with Microsoft have launched their Cloud Next Generation Firewall (NGFW) as a native Azure service. If you haven’t made the connection yet, with it being a native managed service it means it can be deployed into both Virtual Networks AND Virtual WAN hubs. Yes, you read that last sentence correctly integrates into Virtual WAN hubs.
Why is this good? For a while now Azure consumers have limited options when using vWAN, use the Azure native Azure Firewall or consider an option of networking topologies to use vWAN in conjunction with 3rd party firewall vendors. The benefits of this integration include:
-
Native integration with Azure: The firewall is built natively within Azure, which makes it easier to deploy, manage and integrate with other Azure services.
-
Scalability and high performance: The firewall can handle high volumes of traffic and is designed to scale with the customers’ needs.
-
Advanced security features: The firewall provides advanced security features such as intrusion prevention, application control, and threat detection.
-
Seamless end-user experience: The firewall can be easily deployed and managed through Azure Portal, whilst offering deep integrations with Azure for role-based access and much more.
I genuinely cannot wait to try this or even for a customer to ask me about options for running Palo Alto NGFWs in Azure.
